PLAYER LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

South Windsor Girls’ Lacrosse is dedicated to cultivating confidence and leadership among our players. By creating opportunities to foster leadership skills and personal development, our program aims to empower our athletes and to nurture qualities that contribute to well-rounded individuals. We hope that the values instilled in these young women extend far beyond the boundaries of the playing field.

VOLUNTEER COACH

We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of the South Windsor High School Girls’ Lacrosse players who serve as our Athlete Volunteer Coaches. These players are not just skilled athletes; they are role models who epitomize the essence of sportsmanship, dedication, and skill. For years, high school athletes have been the driving force behind our In-House introduction to lacrosse program. Their infectious enthusiasm for the sport creates an environment where younger players don't just learn the game; they fall in love with it.

Our Athlete Volunteer Coaches gain invaluable experience in communication, mentorship, and team management—skills that extend far beyond lacrosse. As they guide and inspire, they are simultaneously developing into leaders who understand the importance of fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.

REFEREE

Our referees are student-athletes. These are paid positions. Our program not only promotes sportsmanship on the lacrosse field but also provides unique leadership opportunities. By becoming a referee, student-athletes have the chance to refine skills such as decision-making, communication, and teamwork—all essential attributes that contribute to their growth both on and off the field.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The internship program has had an incredible impact on our organization while offering a valuable experience to the young women within our league. We are inspired by the positive contributions, growth, and meaningful learning that have resulted from this program. Featuring a unique approach, these internships involve athlete-designed and athlete-led projects, ensuring a dynamic and tailored learning experience. To qualify, interns must be current players or alumni of the South Windsor Girls’ Lacrosse program.

*Internship application for spring 2025 to be posted January 2025.
